SUMMARY OF ORGANIZATION/UNIT
The UCLA Teacher Education (TEP) housed in Center X in the School of Education and Information Studies is a two-year graduate program that prepares aspiring teachers to work in urban schools. TEP students complete coursework and meet other California-mandated requirements to apply for preliminary credentials in one of these fields: Multiple Subjects (Elementary), English, Math, Science, and Social Science. TEP works within a social justice agenda and is committed to working in solidarity with historically marginalized communities to transform schooling for all students.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
We are looking for a resourceful and dedicated Academic Coordinator with strong organizational skills and extensive knowledge of teacher preparation and California credentialing requirements. This position will report to the Director of the Teacher Education Program. There are two areas of support that this position will provide. First, the incumbent will serve as campus lead for the teacher performance assessment, edTPA. The TEP Academic Coordinator will organize and lead training for students on components of the edTPA and assist in remediating students who do not pass on the first attempt. They will attend meetings sponsored by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing to stay abreast of changes to this and other testing requirements for multiple subject pathway students. The TEP Academic Coordinator will present student data to faculty to inform curriculum and advising changes. Secondly, the incumbent will coordinate the field practicum component for first-year multiple-subject students.
