As the Portfolio Manager for Europe and North America, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic management and optimization of the product portfolio / Book of Work for two of Western Union’s biggest regions. It involves evaluating, prioritizing, and strategically aligning projects and resources with business goals and objectives.
This role will help regional and product business leaders make informed decisions about which investments to pursue, continue, modify, or terminate based on their alignment with the organization’s overall strategy, risk considerations, resource availability, and expected value. It involves assessing the performance, cost, and risks associated with each component of the portfolio, as well as considering factors like business value, return on investment, and potential synergies among different projects.
Responsibilities:
Organize a monthly Book of Work Portfolio Meeting with product, regional, and enterprise partners.
Manage and optimize the portfolio intake process for all North American and European IT projects.
Work with strategy on OKR alignment and updates,
Work with finance on overall portfolio budget reporting and adherence.
Lead the evaluation and prioritization of IT projects and initiatives based on established criteria, including strategic alignment, business value, risk assessment, resource requirements, and financial impact.
Collaborate with key stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, and executive management, to understand their needs, define portfolio objectives, and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Monitor the performance and progress of IT projects within the portfolio, tracking key metrics, assessing risks and issues, and taking proactive measures to mitigate potential problems.
Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess the portfolio’s health, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend adjustments to optimize project selection, sequencing, and resource allocation.
Provide leadership and guidance to the IT portfolio management team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Drive portfolio governance processes, ensuring compliance with project management methodologies, standards, and best practices.
Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, effectively communicating portfolio performance, risks, and recommendations.
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in IT portfolio management, and incorporate relevant insights into portfolio strategies and processes.
Role Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience in IT portfolio management, including portfolio optimization, project prioritization, risk assessment, and resource allocation.
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks.
Analytical mindset, with the ability to analyze complex information, make data-driven decisions, and solve problems effectively.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams across the globe.
Experience with portfolio management tools and software is preferred.
Relevant certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PfMP (Portfolio Management Professional) are a plus.

Salary
The on-target earnings range is $114,655 – $202,055 per year, which includes a base salary, short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
