Job Title:Sr. Research Nurse
Department:Medicine | IM Human Genetics
Senior Research Nurse for the NIH, NHLBI and NHGRI RO1-funded Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) Precision Medicine Study, a comprehensive multi-site research consortium with the principal site in the Division of Human Genetics within the Department of Internal Medicine, as well as the DCM Discovery study, and other related NIH studies of the DCM Research Project; supports the Principal Investigator, OSU co-investigators and study personnel by providing clinical support, instruction, direction and review to all clinical cardiovascular procedures, including data acquisition, data adjudication and data review to support the aims of the study; plans organizes and coordinates care of patients on genetic and/or oncology clinical research protocols; serves as a mentor to new and existing research staff; coordinates collection of research data; provides education evaluates patients for clinical complications related to protocol and helps direction for protocol compliance; enhances accrual to research protocols; assists in collection and distribution of blood and tissue samples; evaluates patient eligibility; oversees registration of out/inpatients develops and revises orders; monitors care and insures proper follow-up evaluates, patient response, and patient complications; assists in developing plans to meet requirements of new studies/protocols; prepares for external quality assurance and control review; supervises clinical data derived from the study database for purposes of internal reports, preliminary data for grants, and collaboration with genomic scientists for discovery projects, and data preparation for scientific presentations and manuscripts; assists with design and operations of an emerging randomized clinical cardiovascular study of at-risk family members that will be deployed throughout the 30+ sites of the DCM Consortium.
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in nursing.
Additional Education Desired:
Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; a Master’s degree desired; current Ohio licensure or an interim permit required, considerable experience in a cardiovascular clinical and research capacity required; clinical research certification from ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals) or SoCRA (Society of Clinical Research Associates) required or willingness to obtain certification within 2-years of hire. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen
