Job Title:Student Research Associate in Pharmacoepidemiology
Department:Pharmacy | Outcomes and Translational Sciences-JM
The student associate position will provide research support for an NIA/NIH-funded project aimed at investigating high-order drug-drug interactions among older adults. This project involves a lot of review of prescribed medications and adverse drug events among older adults. Thus, candidates who have experience in medicine or pharmacy practice would fit best and stand to gain most from working on this project.
Roles:
1. Perform literature reviews and summarize evidence relating to a particular scientific topic specified by the Principal Investigator (PI).
2. Compile and format results from statistical outputs; tables, graphs, figures, etc.
4. Keep track of and manage the daily operations of the research project to ensure deadlines are met.
5. Assist with writing manuscripts and research project reports.
6. Search for and compile a list of medical codes (ICD, CPT, NDC) to facilitate the analysis of claims data.
7. Schedule and coordinate project meetings and document minutes from these meetings.
Education Requirements: Currently enrolled in a master’s degree preferably in public health (epidemiology or biostatistics concentration), or related fields. Prior education in the fields of medicine (e.g. MBBS), pharmacy (BPharm or PharmD) or related healthcare practice are highly desirable to support this project.
Desired Qualifications: Professional experience in medicine or pharmacy is preferred. Knowledge about medical codes (ICD, CPT, NDC). Strong communication skills. Attention to detail. Ability to learn quickly and work independently. Competent with the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Some familiarity with statistical software including SAS, SPSS, Stata, etc.
Additional Information:
Pay rate will be $23/hour. Hours per week will be 20.
