The Cooperative Education and Internship Coordinator is responsible for working with students, faculty, employers, and collaborators to sustain a dynamic program of experiential learning. The COI Coordinator uses best practice approaches to student discernment and professional development leading to satisfying career options. The University Career Services Department is seeking (1) Cooperative Education/Internship Coordinator who is flexible, a self-starter who is customer service driven, able to work independently, and willing to take a hands-on, proactive approach to resolving operational issues. HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
Using the innovative approach to student success that is the hallmark of Georgia State: Counsel students individually and in groups on career decision-making and preparing for appropriate cooperative education and internship opportunities related to their major, potential graduate school programs and/or career goals. Collaborate with faculty, staff, academic departments, academic advising, employers and community partners. Provide information on policies and procedures. Consult as needed on how to design and implement a coop or internship opportunity. Source, develop, and maintain co-op and internship opportunities in business, government, and non-profits. Practice relationship management with organizations that provide opportunities. Evaluate and approve positions for participation in the program based on the quality of the learning experience. Develop and implement programming including orientations, workshops, presentations and other related to co-op and internship topics. Track, analyze, and report data related to co-op and internship activities. Monitor student participation in and attainment of learning objectives for experiences. Counsel and advise students on issues that arise during experiences; consult with employer supervisors to resolve issues. Maintain detailed records. Provide data as requested. Hold weekly walk in hours. Take rotational turn on various administrative functions such as resume approvals. Be an active and engaged member of the UCS staff. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Management, Education or related field and three years of related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Experience with campus recruitment and/or employer relations and/or career services.
Knowledge of career management systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to present in large and small groups.
2 years direct experience building client relationships in campus recruiting or related industry.
Demonstrated experience as a self-starter and program developer for career and employer relations programming.
