Student Success Coordinator

In this newly configured role, the Student Success Coordinator supports the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs in coordinating equity-centered, holistic student support services. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative team and promote the health, well-being, and sense of belonging of UVM’s diverse and growing graduate student populations.
The Student Success Coordinator will coordinate multiple domains of graduate student success: mitigate academic challenges related to health issues, promote health and well-being and sense of belonging. Liaison between graduate students, faculty, and program staff with University offices and systems that support student wellness and academic success. Serve as Graduate College representative to the University CARE team to support graduate students navigating unique and challenging circumstances and use independent judgement to assess risk. Support the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs in development and evolution of the Graduate College’s Inclusive Excellence Plan. Direct strategic program development and metrics to support the goals of equity, diversity, and inclusion as set forth in the College’s Inclusive Excellence Plan. Maintain files, records, and databases that may be of a sensitive or confidential nature; compile and evaluate data; prepare detailed communications and reports on parameters of student success using standard and specialized software applications.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Bachelor’s degree in related field and three years related experience to include student support role and documented experience supporting equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging required. Basic knowledge of mental health issues common in student populations required. Confident verbal communication skills to engage students, faculty and staff. Proficient user of MS Office suite and software applications to produce documents, reports and seminar and workshop materials. Effective written communication, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure, prioritize tasks, and maintain confidentiality required.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience working in a College/University setting highly desirable, preferably with graduate population. Mental health counseling experience highly desirable. Event management experience and digital media skills highly desirable. Experience working with international students desirable. Experience with Banner, Repgen, Photoshop, and Drupal desirable.
