Position Summary
Under general direction of the Head of Content Organization and Management in coordination with the Head of Collections, the Acquisitions and ERM Coordinator is responsible for: maintaining all order and fiscal records for acquired or contractually accessed print and electronic materials; ordering, receiving library materials; downloading bibliographic records in the LMS; processing materials and preparing them for use; activating electronic resources; verifying accuracy of materials received against orders placed; monitoring expenditures and processing vendor invoices for payment; troubleshooting problems with vendors; managing licenses in LMS; coordinating budget allocations and expenditures in conjunction with Collection Development; compiling data for annual statistics and audit reports; and applying standards and business practices in accordance with campus requirements and state law. Works in close collaboration with the library’s Director of Financial Operations and Human Resources on finance tasks; procurement and payment methods in the acquisition of materials, budget allocations as provided, approval of expenditures and reporting.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
Content Organization and Management (COM) comprises the acquisitions, electronic resource management (ERM), and cataloging functions of the library. The unit consists of 6.0 FTE faculty librarians, and 6.75 FTE Library Service Specialists, with occasional temporary LSS staff and a number of student employees. This unit is responsible for acquiring, describing, and managing new books and continuing resources in all formats, and maintains data in library systems. The unit, which handles work for both the SDSU and IV libraries, collaborates with librarians and other teams within the library to find, acquire, describe, organize and maintain the materials that support the learning, teaching, and scholarship activities of the university’s students, faculty, and staff.

Education and Experience
Incumbents at this level perform the most complex paraprofessional and/or specialized library functions to support library operations and programs. Work often requires advanced subject knowledge and/or broader or more in-depth expertise in library operations, practices and principles as well as the regular application of paraprofessional expertise and judgment. Because of their advanced functional expertise, incumbents often are responsible for overseeing daily operations of (a) large or significant library unit(s), including directly or indirectly providing lead work direction to other library and clerical staff, as well as student workers assigned to the unit(s). Additionally, they may be involved in supporting the unit’s budgetary and/or other administrative functions.
These qualifications for entry to Position Skill Level IV normally would be obtained through the completion of a high school education or equivalent certification plus two to three years of related library and/or clerical experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,834 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
