Summary
Two labs in the Department of Communicative
Disorders and Sciences at the University at Buffalo-the Cognition, Speech Perception, and Auditory Neuroscience Lab (CSPAN,
PI: Dr. Christopher Heffner) and
the Buffalo Oromotor, Speech, & Swallowing Lab (BOSS, PI: Dr. Kaila Stipancic)-are seeking an organized, talented individual capable of jointly
managing two recently established labs.
This individual will work with the PIs to manage and oversee two laboratories that
investigate speech production and perception across a variety of approaches and populations. This includes use of behavioral and
neuroimaging methods in both healthy older and younger populations and populations with speech and language disorders such as individuals
with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis (MS), and Parkinson’s disease (PD). Some studies take place in community
settings at local museums and libraries.
It is anticipated that the Lab Manager will be able to be
involved in many aspects of the research process.
The primary responsibilities of the Lab Manager
include:
The Lab Manager should have strong interpersonal and communication
skills. They may also be involved in aspects of the research production itself, including study design and execution. The Lab Manager will
be managing young labs still in development. As such, the individual should be a creative problem-solver with a knack for troubleshooting
and clever solutions.
