About This Role:
Lamar University’s online advising department is located within the Department of Digital Learning. The Associate Director of Advising for Digital Learning reports directly to the Senior Director of Advising. This position requires a daily on campus presence. The Associate Director supports the Senior Director of Advising and the department with the oversight, coordination, and assessment of online undergraduate and graduate enrollment and matriculation. The position is responsible for facilitating and ensuring quality academic advising in the areas of schedule building, degree plan requirements interpretation, outreach, and engagement with students to help with continued matriculation, correct course placement and timely progression toward graduation.
The Associate Director will support the online advisors with training, mentorship and problem solving with items related to enrollment, such as prerequisites, registration errors in Banner that need to be edited, and course placement. With a focus on student achievement, the Associate Director actively collects, interprets, utilizes data, and collaborates with the Senior Director of Advising to inform decisions regarding academic advising in the areas of enrollment and registration. The Associate Director uses a solutions-based approach to identify, suggest, and propose options to concerns as needed. The Associate Director builds and maintains positive, productive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders across campus related to student enrollment. The Associate Director directly supervises online academic advisors for administrative support, oversight, and tracking.
