Position Summary
HIGHLIGHTS
The SUNY Geneseo Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, a part of the Division of Student and Campus Life, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and Media Relations.
In this full-time 10-month position you will assist the director in coordinating all aspects of publicizing the student-athlete experience, including the department’s 21 teams and over 450 student-athletes, coaches, and administrators. You will help maintain relationships with information consumers to include local/national media, NCAA, SUNYAC, parents, alumni, fans and donors across various mediums, including the department website (GeneseoKnights.com), social media, live events, webcasts, feature stories and press releases.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Athletic Communications and Media Relations with strategic dissemination of information about the intercollegiate athletic program to the College’s constituents.
Assist in game day operations including but not limited to live coverage (live stats and video coverage), supervision of game day staff, etc.; serve as athletic communications game day lead for selected sports.
Write regular releases about department events, award winners, etc.
Update and maintain statistics and records for selected sports.
Assist in the creation/maintenance of all print and electronic publications including but not limited to: internal and external communications, game day programs, press releases and the department website.
Produce regular feature stories about individuals in the department for use in campus/alumni publications.
Nominate student-athletes on a weekly/annual basis for awards to include conference, regional and national and academic awards.
Assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of student interns and student workers for athletic communications functions.
Develop, implement, and maintain the social media plan for the intercollegiate athletics program (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
Collaborate with the campus Web Communications Manager to ensure integration of the intercollegiate athletics social media plan with the College social media plan.
Coordinate video streaming at selected home events.
