This is a research specialist position in a laboratory examining the role of type III collagen in the regenerative and tumor microenvironments. The individual will maintain laboratory equipment, supplies and records and perform general cell and molecular techniques. Work involves DNA/RNA/protein preparation of canine, feline and murine samples (will have involvement with research animals) and gene and protein expression analysis by real-time RT-PCR, western blot, ELISAs and immunohistochemistry. Position will involve tissue processing and cell culturing, microscopy and will involve in vivo murine studies. Must be able to perform laboratory work independently with guidance from PI and post-docs and perform data analysis of studies performed. Occasional weekend/evenings required.Job Description

Qualifications
Previous experience in the field of stromal cell biology and/or extracellular matrix is preferred. Tissue culture experience is required. Must be able to work independently (with guidance from PI and post-docs), to effectively troubleshoot technical difficulties and work well with others. Must have ability to analyze data and contribute to manuscript and grant preparation. Occasional weekend/evenings required.Must be able to work with laboratory animals. Must be able to work for long periods at the lab bench or laminar flow hood. Must be capable of moving around the laboratory and in supply rooms as needed. Must be capable of lifting boxes containing supplies as needed. Most experiments require a high degree of manual dexterity.
Research Specialist B: Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Research Specialist C: Bachelor of Science Degree and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Research Specialist D: Master of Science Degree and 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
