Position Summary:
The Rock Eagle 4-H Environmental Education Assistant Coordinator will work directly with the Education Program Coordinator to oversee the day to day operations of the environmental education program at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, Georgia. This is a leadership role that requires attention to detail and developed communication skills. The person in this role should be motivated, highly organized, and have a strong passion for environmental education. They will spend the majority of their time hiring, training, and creating/sharing schedules with our seasonal and full-time staff members (both week and weekend schedules).
The Rock Eagle 4-H Environmental Education Assistant Coordinator will assist with all environmental education office tasks and administration to include creation and maintenance of program files, answering questions via phone/email from user groups, and data entry. This person will also lead programs for Environmental Education and Summer Camping Programs, as well as adult/youth conference groups attending Rock Eagle 4-H Center, delivering quality programs that meet program standards and engage all participants.
Additional responsibilities will include curriculum development, maintaining teaching spaces and class materials, animal husbandry, and administrative duties. During the summer months the Rock Eagle 4-H Environmental Education Assistant Coordinator will assist with the summer camping program.
Weekend and evening work are part of this position.
On-site housing at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center is available.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
Ability to work independently as well as within a team. Experience and knowledge in the planning and coordinating of youth education programs. Ability to provide programmatic and facilitation support for the environmental education program. Fundamental knowledge of computers and applications. Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults. Ability to achieve instructor status in canoeing, CPR and basic first aid, and high adventure course facilitation (Certification through ACCT Preferred Vendor). Broad knowledge of the natural environment and comfort working outdoors.

Work in adverse physical and weather conditions. Walk at least 4 miles daily. Lift 50 pounds. Driving.
