The University Health Network’s Princess Margaret Cancer Centre’s Division of Medical Oncology and Haematology/Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications to fill The J. Gerald Scott/David G. Whitmore Chair in Haematology Research. The successful applicant will be a scientist, clinician-scientist or clinician researcher from a relevant health care discipline at the academic rank of Associate Professor or higher. The Chair will be responsible for continuing to lead their own research across UHN, while developing a centre-wide clinical and research agenda in thrombosis.
The objective of this position is to foster academic programs and research with the aim of improving discoveries, clinical outcomes, care delivery or patient outcomes in Haematology. We are seeking candidates who have an excellent track record of leadership in Haematology and expertise in thrombosis.
The candidate must exhibit relevant research qualifications and demonstrate a proven capacity for innovation, integration and collaboration. Applicants must hold an MD degree, be a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Haematology Specialist or be eligible for certification in the RCPSC and licensure in Ontario.
The Chair will be appointed for an initial five-year term with renewal for a subsequent five-year term upon successful review of the research program. No further extensions will be considered. The Chair will be expected to maintain an extramurally funded research program that meets the highest standards as evidenced by publications, grants and other appropriate objective measures of achievement.
