Position Summary:
The Accounts Manager, Associated Entities will provide support to the business office of the School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and its associated entities, School Services, Inc. and the School Foundation. This role ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, allocating, reconciling, and entering transactions. The Accounts Manager will perform tasks such as accounts payable, collecting receivables, as well as maintaining reports for account reconciliation. The position will process vouchers, deposits, journal entries, corporate card expenses, and other accounting transactions as needed for the School’s associated entities.
This position is responsible for processing and reconciling revenues received by the School for course registrations, membership dues, service agreements, and miscellaneous fees. This position is responsible for managing the receipt of approximately $12,000,000 in revenues each fiscal year. The Accounts Manager ensures that all revenue is received and deposited according to University and School policies and procedures, and they provide essential reconciliation and reporting.
This position reports to the School Foundation Accountant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
1. Provide accurate accounts payable and disbursement processing for invoices to School Associated Entities
2. Verify payments, maintain payment files, and consult with vendors and staff regarding payments
3. Reconcile payment data and troubleshoot problems with payments
4. Work in partnership with the Accounts Manager to process, make payments to, and keep accurate records of independent contract arrangements for department Services.
Accounts Receivable:
1. Receive all revenue coming to the School in the form of cash, check, and credit cards. Manage daily reconciliations of receipt activity accepted via Quickbooks and Learning Stream in accordance with School and University policy.
2. Manage past-due and uncollectable accounts. Send letters to clients indicating past due amounts.
3. Maintain current, past-due, and delinquent account records for all payments due to the School for all accounts.
General Accounting:
1. Assist Foundation Accountant with financial reporting and month-end and year-end closings.
2. Open incoming mail to the business office and route it to appropriate employees
3. Other business office duties as assigned

Minimum Experience/Education:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field with credit hours in accounting
Department Required Skills:
• Prefer candidate with experience using Quickbooks.
• University accounting experience, experience using Peoplesoft or other ERP systems, is a plus.
• Ability to process financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy, with strong attention to detail and mathematical skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills are required to manage multiple responsibilities and requests from faculty and staff as well as clients and outside vendors.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to School faculty and staff, as well as external clients and vendors.
• Ability to interpret and apply University and State guidelines, regulations, and policies and adapt to new procedures and systems as policies change.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including advanced written and oral communications skills, diplomacy, discretion, tact, initiative, and motivation. This position will have regular contact with outside clients and vendors, the UNC Office of Finance and Operations, and the School of Government faculty and staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, is required.
