The Director of Global Research and Academic Programs reports to Global Initiatives and to the Office of Research Affairs. This position requires a strong ability to engage and support faculty and scholars in global research, curricular design and program implementation. As Director of Global Research and Academic Programs, the incumbent will develop, manage, facilitate, and oversee programs involving teaching, research, or academically based public service across the university with international partners. The incumbent will oversee a portfolio of thematic areas under Global Initiatives, including Global Research, Global Curriculum, and the Faculty Advisory Board.
The Director of Global Research and Academic Programs provides expertise for program and partnership development of all faculty-driven academic collaborations specific to global research, curricular design, and program implementation with peer institutions and foreign governmental and non-governmental agencies. The incumbent will work closely with the Senior Director of Global Initiatives to advocate for and facilitates international education, campus internationalization, and global engagement in support of integrating international activities into curricula.
The incumbent coordinates the strategic implementation of campus global initiatives and program development, working closely with the Senior Director – Global Initiatives, senior administrators, and academic and research leadership on short and long-term collaborative efforts. Identifies funding opportunities in support of a variety of academic and research mobility programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. A terminal degree in a related field (PhD, JD, MBA, MD, etc.) is preferred.
Academic background and experience in selected area of research. ** Combined minimum of 10 years of faculty, research and administrative leadership experience in higher education, research centers, and/or a US governmental agency. Significant experience writing, interpreting and revising universities and procedures to support educational program develop, and significant experience drafting and executing memoranda of understand, Collaboration Agreements and other partnership agreements as necessary.
Advanced knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices. ** In-depth knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, general fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting, and contract regulations and guidelines.
Advanced oral and written communication skills. ** Outstanding communication skills, oral and written, to communicate effectively in a diverse environment at all levels, with tact and diplomacy.
Advanced ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills. ** Demonstrated skill in independent decision-making and analyzing complex situations; analyze data and assess needs and implement strategy for resolution. Critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information, evaluate results and facilitate resolution to difficult challenges.
Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results. ** Strong leadership skills, including establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse constituencies.
Advanced ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers. ** Demonstrated experience working with research centers, governments, and funding agencies in the US and abroad. Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with wide range of individuals, including professional staff, high-level administrators, faculty, students/scholars, parents and system-wide colleagues, government officials and community members.
Highly skilled fundraising experience.
Strong leadership skills demonstrated by the ability to teach, influence, persuade others to take action based on vision and strategic objectives. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills relevant to chairing a board of faculty. Experience and potential to obtain extramural support for research or instructional activities.
Experience in developing and sustaining international education partnerships.
Excellent organizational skills including the ability to oversee a variety of services, programs, activities.
Extensive knowledge of the field of international education, including research collaborations, scholar exchanges, student exchanges, and institutional relationship building.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate global business hours as needed.
Must be able to travel internationally.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $78,900 – $179,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $37.79 – $86.16
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
