Position Summary:
The University of Georgia (UGA) seeks an organized and engaged leader to join the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) as Assistant Director for Learning Technologies. This individual will have an interest in management of a campus-wide learning management system and also in bringing effective pedagogical principles to bear. The incumbent will provide leadership to a large group of learning technology support personnel across campus, while contributing their specific expertise to the work of the CTL.
The Assistant Director for Learning Technologies reports to the Associate Director for Teaching and Learning, collaborates with a variety of campus partners, and benefits from UGA’s participation in a multi-institution Learning Technology Consortium.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Serve as primary administrator for UGA’s learning management system. Manage regular operations of the system and liaise with the University System of Georgia as necessary. Advise the Associate Director for Teaching and Learning on policies, procedures, and potential changes to the learning management system. Collaborate with campus partners to evaluate and recommend next steps for requested learning management system integrations. Provide leadership among collaborative administrators for eLC across UGA, and coordinate with the Enterprise Information Technology Systems (EITS) team to ensure smooth and continued operation of the learning management system.

Provide training, consultations, and support for instructors and teaching assistants in the use of current and emerging learning technologies related to effective teaching practices. Develop and implement workshops, resources, and other methods of support for users of learning technology at UGA. Manage campus communications related to learning technologies, and provide consultative assistance as needed.

Examine current and emerging learning technologies, and collaborate with stakeholders across campus who are committed to ensuring the positive impact of learning technologies. Provide CTL colleagues with information and training related to new or emerging learning technologies, and advise the Associate Director on new trends in the uses of learning technology in higher education. Work with the Associate Director to propose, develop, and execute new initiatives in learning technology at UGA.

Oversee, evaluate, and assess the impact of the annual Learning Technologies Grant program. Facilitate Learning Technologies Grant review and award process each spring semester; collect progress reports from recipients of the program; track progress and growth of the program over time; prepare reports on the impact of the Learning Technologies Grant program.

Collaborate with CTL colleagues in programming related to the mission and goals of the CTL and the Office of Instruction. Provide periodic updates, annual reports, and documentation of engagement with the campus community, as requested. Communicate regularly with the Associate Director for Teaching and Learning about ongoing work, project management, evolving priorities, and/or arising challenges.
