Description The Center for the Study of Law and Religion at Emory (CSLR) at Emory University School of Law is hiring for a new post-doctoral position: the McDonald Scholar in Residence. The McDonald Scholar in Residence (“the Scholar”) will work closely with Professor John Witte, Jr. and with senior staff within CSLR to ensure the success of the new McDonald Distinguished Senior Fellows Program and with Prof. Witte on his research and scholarship. The Scholar is also expected and encouraged to continue their own research and scholarship and to be part of the scholarly community of the Center. The Scholar will: + Manage, in collaboration with CSLR senior leadership, the new McDonald Distinguished Senior Fellowship program (1/4 time); + Assist Professor John Witte, Jr. with his research and scholarship (1/2 time); and + Conduct research and produce scholarship to further the Scholar’s own research agenda and academic career (1/4 time). Imbedded in each of these responsibilities is an expectation that the scholar will actively participate in the scholarly life of CSLR through discussions, works in progress sessions, and other programs. We welcome applications from individuals with relevant professional experience in law and religion, including recent PhD, SJD, or LLM graduates, or individuals holding a JD with relevant academic experience that demonstrates a commitment to, and deep understanding of, the production of rigorous and informed legal scholarship. This full-time position includes benefits and appointment is anticipated to last at least 2 years, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
