Job Summary
The Director of Field Education oversees the day-to-day operations of Field Education for the MS in Social Work degree program. The Director ensures that internship agencies provide learning opportunities that correspond with students’ educational needs.
** This position is considered limited-term staff since it utilizes contingent funding. Continued employment is contingent upon availability of grant funding for this position. **
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*:
1. Collaborates with the Director of Social Work to ensure continuity of education and clinical field experience
2. Collaborates with agencies that work with our students, the field supervisors, and the faculty field mentors
3. Responsible for providing all agencies, field supervisors, and field mentors the required annual training(s)
4. Provides documentation and orientation to field supervisors and agencies prior to placing students
5. Provides agency and student information to faculty field mentors
6. Trains and orients agency supervisors prior to placing interns
7. Responsible for all data management in Tevera
8. Ensures students, field supervisors, and faculty field mentors have access to, and are uploading required documentation to Tevera
9. Responsible for generating all reports and tabulating data (accreditation, as needed) related to outcomes data from Tevera
10. Responsible for student orientation as it relates to field placement, the MSW Student Field Handbook, and use of Tevera
11. Coordinates all student placements during first and second year with available agencies
12. Coordinates student agency interviews and conducts follow-up confirmation of placements
13. Ensures that the Office of Field Education always maintains a sufficient number of trained and experienced faculty field mentors skilled in providing internship students with positive learning experiences
14. Monitors and maintains all internship related CSWE accreditation standards
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
Required Experience
Five (5) years full-time post-graduate social work experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
Ability to engage and work with diverse stakeholders in the department, college, university, and larger community
Ability to work efficiently and effectively with a diverse student population
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
