Position Description:
Anderson Computing & Information Services (ACIS) provides information and technology services to the Anderson School of Management. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Academic Technology Solutions at ACIS, the Academic Technology Coordinator will have responsibility for coordinating program technology needs, as well as implementing best practice improvements to instructional technology services and operations to meet those needs. In doing so, the Academic Technology Coordinator will work directly with Anderson faculty and staff to assist in gathering instructional technology requirements for programs and courses. The incumbent will be expected to maintain strong stakeholder relationships with faculty, program leads, and students, and will manage projects through to completion, providing first-rate customer service to internal and external customers.
The Academic Technology Coordinator provides academic technology support to about 400 Anderson School faculty and staff and 2000 students in various academic programs, in coordination with the ACIS Help Desk. In conjunction with the Academic Technology Solutions (ATS) team at ACIS, which is made up of both full-time staff and student workers, incumbent advocates and supports the use of technology in support of instruction and learning, which includes hardware, software, and A/V equipment, in Anderson classrooms and other physical, as well as on-line and digital learning spaces, including media production studios. The ATS team serves as the 2nd tier support to the ACIS Helpdesk, handling inquires related to academic technology, such as video and web conferencing, classroom A/V equipment, learning management system, course evaluation, productivity and collaboration software, media production, and supporting instructional design. ATS works closely with other internal teams within and outside of ACIS, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure issues and requests are resolved as quickly as possible. Incumbent will have responsibilities for supervising student workers.
The employee will perform hands-on support tasks, resolve technical problems, monitor service ticket system and email inboxes, program and operate A/V systems, develop middleware to integrate backend software systems, and provide training and documentation to Anderson and guest users. Incumbent will also assist with maintaining vendor relationships and support escalations. This position will have frequent interactions with Anderson staff and faculty to understand course objectives and technical requirements and to provide direct support including setting up, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting A/V equipment, network, computers, and software systems in classrooms and other learning spaces for instruction, seminars, workshops, and conferences. This position will provide support for in-class web/video conferences and coordinate and assist with instructional recording and live streaming activities. Incumbent is expected to work outside of normal office hours and/or weekends to support classes when needed. The Academic Technology Coordinator will understand the standard features and functions of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and related technologies, and help ensure the system meets the Anderson School’s requirements.
