Director of Curricular Administration at UCLA School of Law

The position of Director of Curricular Administration requires a dedicated individual to serve as a key member of the law school’s academic affairs team and oversee the operational excellence of the UCLA Law curriculum. The Director will report to and work under the general direction of the Faculty Vice Dean for Curricular and Academic Affairs and will be expected to work independently with multiple faculty and staff within the law school. The Director will support the Vice Dean in curricular administration and development, enrollment processes, and in the recruitment, orientation, training, and review of non-senate teaching faculty. The person in this position must have background and familiarity with legal education, ability to exercise creativity and good judgment about the law school program, and a commitment to educating law students. The person in this position has the possibility of spending up to approximately 25% of his or her time teaching law school courses, to be determined in consultation with the Vice Dean.
This position is a full-time, year-round, non-tenure track academic appointment. This appointment is subject to the rules and regulations of the Regents of the University of California, which are mostly embodied in The UCLA CALL and the University of California Academic Personnel Manual. A reasonable estimate for this position is $125,000 to $150,000.
Minimum requirements include an excellent academic record; a J.D. or equivalent advanced degree; at least five years of substantial law practice, legal academic, or related experience; demonstrated management, administrative, and organizational skills, with successful prior experience in legal education preferred. The successful candidate should have the background that enables him or her to write substantive academic plans and personnel reviews, and to exercise creativity and good judgment about curricular issues. Some teaching duties may be assigned, depending upon interest, background, and other workload requirements.
