Academy of Las Animas Online School Las Animas School District RE-1 Secondary Licensed Teacher, Online Science. This posting is for the 2022-2023 school year. This position will remain open until filled. The Las Animas School District is seeking a visionary, dynamic teacher to deliver core content instruction through our online platform. This job will be both online as well as onsite. Location: Permanent location for this position will be Pueblo, Colorado and remote work is possible. Position Type: Secondary Online Science, grades 6th-12th Contract Terms: One Hundred 174 days (174) Benefits: Health Insurance, PERA retirement Salary Range: $35,000 to $55,000 based on experience, education, licensure etc. Minimum Qualifications/ Education: ● Bachelor’s Degree and or an Alternative Teaching license ● Hold a current/valid Colorado Teacher license and or alternative license District Mission Statement: At Las Animas Schools we will ensure that our students are equipped to achieve their future academic goals through a healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged learning environment that attends to mental, emotional and physical health which leads to positive behaviors and outcomes for a lifetime. General Job Description: Teachers play a vital role in equipping students to achieve their academic goals. Teachers use differentiated standards based curricula that is evident to all stakeholders through posted objectives, submitted lesson plans, and student, parent, observer-friendly language. Teachers create learning environments that are healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenging. A safe learning environment includes but is not limited to creating nurturing relationships with students, differentiated lessons that cater to multiple skill levels, collaboration with family, and an effective use of time. Teachers demonstrate leadership in the school and participate in opportunities to be a part of leadership teams including BLT, MTSS, RTI and school level accountability committees. Directly Responsible to: Building level administration personnel to fulfill the goals of the District. Supervisory Responsibilities: Students and facilities. Duties and Responsibilities: ● The secondary teacher has knowledge of literacy and science and is an expert in his or her content endorsement area(s). ● Teachers provide instruction that is aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards and the District’s organized plan of instruction. ● Teachers develop and implement lessons that connect to a variety of content areas/discipline and emphasize literacy and mathematics. ● Teachers demonstrate mastery in the classroom both of the content they teach and of research-based pedagogical practices including but not limited to, Explicit Lesson Planning, Assessment Literacy, Social Emotional Learning and Mental Health First Aid. ● Teachers provide differentiated standards based curricula that is evident to all stakeholders through posted objectives, submitted lesson plans, and student, parent, observer-friendly language. ● Teachers demonstrate knowledge of the content, central concepts, inquiry, appropriate evidence-based instructional practices, and specialized characteristics of the disciplines being taught. ● Teachers foster a predictable learning environment characterized by acceptable student behavior and efficient use of time. ● Teachers demonstrate an awareness of respect for multiple aspects of diversity, while working toward common goals as a community of learners. ● Teachers engage students as individuals, including those with diverse needs and interests. ● Teachers use mastery of content and pedagogy to create a safe learning environment where students of all skill levels and backgrounds can learn and belong. ● A safe learning environment includes but is not limited to creating nurturing relationships with students, differentiated lessons that cater to multiple skill levels, collaboration with family, and an effective use of time. ● Teachers work collaboratively with the families and/or significant adults for the benefit of students. ● Teachers demonstrate knowledge about the ways in which learning takes place, including the levels of intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of students. ● Teachers use formal and informal methods to assess student learning, provide feedback, and use results to inform planning and instruction, such as CMAS, NWEA, STAR, and PSAT/SAT to further develop knowledge of students’ needs. ● Teachers integrate and utilize appropriate available technology to engage students in authentic learning experiences. ● Teachers establish and communicate high expectations and use processes to support the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills. ● Teachers provide students with the opportunities to work in teams and develop leadership. ● Skills associated with learning include using multiple strategies to address similar subjects and standards, providing students avenues for different ways to express their learning, allowing students ● to set goals and time to evaluate those goals, developing digital citizenship, and opportunities to develop leaders in the classroom. ● Teachers model and promote effective communication. ● Teachers demonstrate high standards for professional conduct. ● Teachers link professional growth to professional goals. ● Teachers are able to respond to a complex and dynamic environment. ● Teachers demonstrate leadership in the school and participate in opportunities to be a part of leadership teams including BLT, MTSS, RTI and school level accountability committees. ● Demonstrate professionalism in and out of the classroom through advocacy and promote district, city, county, and statewide. ● Teachers advocate to the community their events and share their student projects through posting student work, sharing at meetings such as City Council, School Board, etc, and advocate for the changes and development of the district in the community
