JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for an enthusiastic elementary teacher to foster and facilitate the intellectual and social development of the children. Teaching elementary grade level includes planning, implementing and assessing lessons. You will teach children with patience and creativity. 1st-5th Grade teacher duties include designing a teaching plan and using activities and instructional methods to motivate children.

Salary: $40,000-$45,000
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education
2. A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the elementary level (required)
3. Michigan Teacher Certification; ZG endorsement elementary K-5 recognized by the Michigan Department of Education (preferred)
4. Advanced Placement (AP) Certification (preferred)
5. Ability to facilitate resolution of interpersonal issues
6. Successful experience in shared decision making, lesson development, and classroom supervision
7. Evidence of experience working with diverse communities
8. Consistently demonstrates good character, flexibility, and the ability to work with others to create an environment that promotes team work
10. Ability to confer with parents, staff, and stakeholders to discuss educational activities, policies, and learning targets
11. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, delegate, and listen
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Teaches ELA (reading, writing, listening, speaking) social studies, mathematics, science, and life and learning skills to students in a classroom, aligned with the Michigan State Standards
· Creates a welcoming and positive classroom climate and culture.
· Exhibits a commitment to the School’s mission and vision.
· Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
· Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
· Exhibits an understanding of literacy development for elementary students and articulates and utilizes research based instructional strategies and methods appropriate for various grade levels.
· Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an effective learning atmosphere in the classroom.
· Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares report cards and other necessary documentation to report student growth and achievement.
· Integrates the school improvement goals into the classroom.
· Maintains student classroom records using current district technology and expectations.
· Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss curriculum, assessments, and student progress.
· Identifies student needs and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students address social, emotional and academic issues.
· Creates an effective and welcoming environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, instructional materials, bulletin boards, and websites.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities such as mathematics teams.
· Maintains professional competence through in service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
· Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
· Communicates with students, parents and administration including building principal, assistant principal, and counselor on student progress
· Supervises students to ensure a school climate in accordance with the school’s vision and mission
· Administers and monitors group tests and standardized testing
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
· Maintaining good order and discipline among students under one’s care and safeguarding their health and safety at all times
· Participating in staff, group or other meetings related to the school curriculum or pastoral care arrangements, for the better organization and administration of the school
· Contributing to the professional development of new teachers and student teachers according to arrangements agreed with the Head of School
· Registering and monitoring the attendance of students under one’s care
· Sharing in any possible and reasonable way in the effective management
· Organization, order and discipline of the school
· Nurtures a culture where teachers view themselves essentially as facilitators of learning and reflective practitioners
